Topics

It’s not enough to know a few cool prompts for ChatGPT—leaders today need to have a comprehensive understanding of generative AI tools, agentic AI and other forms of ‘machine coworkers.’ Focused on meeting the needs for ‘just in time’ education by executives and other leaders, this course will introduce AI modules under a simple and cohesive framework for digital transformation and AI readiness based in the experience and synthesis of a lead educator, Causeit Inc.’s CEO MJ Petroni, author of the AI & Digital Fluency Guide.

Unlike many ‘free’ AI courses from AI companies like OpenAI, Google, Microsoft or scattered videos, this fact-checked educational offering will be platform-agnostic, focused on transformation for existing businesses, and connected to a broader, comprehensive framework for digital transformation.

Frequently asked questions/FAQ

Do I need any technical skills to join the course? Will we be coding?

Q: No advanced technical skills are needed to participate in the course, and there will be no coding in the course. See the Registration, Format and Details section above for more info.

What is covered in the course?

Q: The course covers strategic topics about how to lead an AI transformation, including assessing tools, prioritizing use cases, and developing functional AI workflows. See the Topics section above for more info.

Who should participate in the program?

Leaders—whether or not they have an official title!

AI Champions: Business leaders who bring resources and remit. AI Fluency helps them lead, prioritize, delegate, and create accountability.

AI Explorers: Those who discover new opportunities and share new models of value creation. AI Fluency helps them map new opportunities to the existing business, create cases for action, and collaborate effectively with technologists.

AI Makers: Those with the technical know-how to make prototypes. AI Fluency helps them understand user and business needs, request, and prioritize resources effectively, and partner with others in the organization.

What skills will I develop?

You will learn what AI is, when and how it can be used, its limitations, and its possibilities. Among other things, students will leave with the ability to perform initial evaluations of generative AI tools, create an AI use case pipeline, examine the impact of AI on a business, and use AI tools through effective prompt design and chat interfaces.

Do I need to speak English? What languages is the content in? Is it accessible?

The course is conducted in English, and students are expected to have at least basic business proficiency in English (please see the course requirements).

However, to aid comprehension, all of our on-demand written content is available in English and Spanish.

External content (including videos), as well as course worksheets or other homework content is usually in English, and it is the student's responsibility to translate those materials if desired.

Live content is mirrored in written content for easy navigation and different learning styles.

What is the class project? How will I be evaluated?

The cumulative project for the AI Fluency Bootcamp is creating an AI workflow for your own business/employer, or a future startup. The workflow is for augmentation of human work, not only automation.

The project will build throughout several practical assignments.

The workflow(s) you create can include several elements, such as:

  • Transforming text
  • Generating text
  • Translation
  • Creating images
  • Formatting data in new ways (both in import and export from AI systems)
  • Multi-step prompts (prompt-chaining)
  • Transformation of data in tables and/or spreadsheets
  • Instruction sets for consistent content creation

Students will also use AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini throughout the project to practice skills like prompt design and workflow creation. The project will require a significant amount of human contribution unique to the particular student’s situation, and cannot be based only on AI outputs.

To receive a completion badge, the workflow must:

  • Function consistently.
  • Be specific to the student's industry and market.
  • Show "computational thinking"—critical thinking skills for instructing AI systems on human workflows.
  • Be completed by the end of the bootcamp (or, in special circumstances, in the five business days which follow).
  • Be fully understood and explainable by the student.
